Just got this through amazon warehouse deals and its exceptional value.

15.6-inch Laptop (Dark Chocolate) - (Intel Core i5 3210M 2.5GHz Processor, 6GB RAM, 1TB HDD, DVDRW, LAN, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Nvidia GeForce GT635, Windows 8)

Its £779 new and this was listed as having large scratches on the front and back. Its absolutely perfect and an absolute bargain for that price.

They still have some left for £322 which is still cracking value.

None that I can see, its absolutely mint, even has the protective screen and keyboard acetate on it. It looks perfect except that its not in its original box.

    Used acceptable

Thats what they are selling for. I think for £779 stg it would be overpriced but its still a cracking laptop.

If I want to return an item, who would have to pay for the postage back to Amazon - does anyone have any experience?

What sort of warranty do these come with?
Also, are they used or just scratched on the front?

If you click on "product details" it brings you back to the main screen and they say there is a "newer version of this item" (the Z510) for £449 brand new.

Looks like you got a good price - maybe update the thread title with actual price of £322.
BTW - the highest price when it was for sale new by Amazon was £599.99. The £779 is the current price 3rd party new price:

The seem to have a lot of them for sale, I would be thinking they can't be too good if so many of the original customers returned them!

I got this for my Dad at Christmas. I would imagine the reason for a lot of these returns is Windows 8.1, it breaks this particular laptop completely. The wireless becomes useless, constantly unable to connect to hotspots and there are other driver issues that come and go at random. The only solution was a full factory reset back to windows 8 & not re-installing windows 8.1.

Neither Lenovo or Qualcomm, who make the wifi chipset (better know for their smart phone processors) have made any attempt to deal with the driver issues and have seemingly given up trying to craft working windows 8.1 drivers. Oh and it was £429 new as I recall.

The GPU, which is a major selling point, is quite weak & power hungry. It's based on the older GT 555M, and this implementation is the weakest of all the variants and has slower DDR3 ram. The good news is it can be overclocked by 20% using MSI Afterburner, but your just re-enabling the turbo clock really.
Expect 30fps at 720p in modern games at medium settings & high settings in older games like Bioshock Infinite and Borderlands 2. It's roughly 2x as powerful as the HD 4000, a little more when overclocked. Still you won't get more power for this money, just don't install Windows 8.1! ;)

Thanks for the info, will look into the MSI afterburner. Mine is running on 8 and not 8.1? Used it last night and very happy with it. Looks great and very quick. Will give it a proper run with photoshop and Indesign and see how it compares to my Macbook pro.

How are these Z500's holding up? Any major issues from those of you who bought?

The lappy has died and thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these on amazon. Currently going for £369 sterling so about 463e
