Hi, I recently ordered 700x25 continental gatorskin tires, 700x25 is what my bike has on it at the moment.

When the tires arrived there much wider then whats on my bike?

Sorry for the ignorance but what did I do wrong?

    Thanks!

They only look that way, your looking at the tyre wall as well, when it's fitted it'll be fine..Just fitted a set of conti 4000 this morning and when I opened them I thought the same as you.

I've been struggling all morning to fit them. The entire wheel, old tire included can fit into this new tire?

They will fit, they are the same size. Yes the new one looks wider but once on the rim and pumped it will pull the sides in so to speak. Put a little air into the tube to help hold the tire in place as you fit it to the rim.

I'll give it another shot in awhile and let you know how I get on, wrecked after working nights last night.

Is the problem that the tyre won't remain seated in the rim as you work your way around? If so, secure the first section firmly in place with a couple of cable ties until you get the rest of it on.

Thanks lads, managed to get it to fit by securing it in the end as ash said but without the cable ties just pushed against the floor as I seated myself this time!

    Thanks!

It looks to me like the gator skins are a 'higher' profile tyre than what you are replacing. So the Gator looks much bigger when in fact it's the same size except deeper?

Don't think the sizing (700x23C) indicates the profile of the tire?
