Anyone flown Business on Aer Lingus 757?

    Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has flown in Business Class on the Aer Lingus 757s between SNN - BOS/JKF? Or Dublin-Toronto although not sure when it started.

Is the experience any different to Business on the A330? Just keen to know if the seats are any different or if it feels cramped as it's a narrow-body. Is there a toilet at the front of the cabin? Know there is no Wi-Fi which is a shame.

Also does the service being operated by AirContractors make any difference?

    Thanks in advance.

Not me yet. But Ive been on the Toronto a good few times prior to its Departure. Very smart aircraft they are indeed.

Seats not cramped but then Im a size 10 so no problem for me.

The service is Aer Lingus. The CCrew are SNN based EI cabin crew operating these flights. The FD are a mixture of EI/Dhl/Finnair/Acl/ Few Contractors.
All bringing various experience. interesting to listen to them at breifing time. Very professional.

Looking forward to a freebie over and back soon.

The wife is flying business class to JFK in september, if you can wait that long we'll let you know.:D
orporate.aerlingus.com/companyprofile/fleet/boeing757/. The first set of toilets shown appear to be by the third set of doors so I suspect that there is at set of toilets just outside the cockpit door, otherwise the pilots will be unacceptly far from the cockpit should there be a need for them to return in a hurry. Try the Delta web site you can get some idea of their 757s to get a comparision,

    Some more info here: http://www.aircontractors.com/solutions/single/cabin-and-seating

They are different seats to 330 but very similar. It won't be cramped but it is a narrow body so will be different. I'm not positive but I think there is a toilet at the front.

Yes flew BOS/SNN a couple of months ago.

My recollection is there were a total of 12 seats in Business Class.

Chief Steward looked after us very well .

There is a toilet in the front of Business Class section.

The experience of flying 757 vs A330 , the cabin is quite cramped.

Standard fare passengers on 757 are now travelling cattle class, no comparison with flying a330.

Good idea to fly Business Class !

I don't think its really fair to compare a transatlantic flight with blankets, food, ife and pillows etc as "cattle class" as if its the same as Ryanair or Easyjet. The two couldn't be further apart.

I didn't see that comparison at all. "cattle class" is a derogatory term for Economy/Coach.

The poster obviously feels that Y Class on the B757 is less comfortable to Y class on a widebody.
Have yet to actually experience as flight in a B757 myself however, so am unable to make a personal judgment. I am guessing it feels similar to a long B737? Which would not be great for 6-7 hours.

Are you referring to the aircraft type or the airline specific seat? A comfy seat on a B757 might actually feel better than a shorter flight on an Easyjet A320. On the other hand a cramped B757 would feel worse than Easy or Ryanair.

Not sure the two are comparable but I've flown both business and economy with Continental/United from Snn/Ewr a few times.

Economy is a bit cramped for a c.7 hour flight. Business was nice though.

    As expected. Thanks.

I would hazard a guess that EI have their B757 along similar lines to CO/UA and also DL and AA. These are the airlines they are competing with. So I'm sure your assessment would also suit the EI B757's.

Agreed - Flown the SNN/EWR and the SNN/ORD route with United multiple times..

Standard economy is quite cramped , Economy Plus is good for what it is- the extra space is noticeable..

I get it free as I'm a frequent flyer , not 100% certain I'd pay for the upgrade if I didn't get compilmentary access, but it's certainly better than standard.

    Sir,

Perhaps you are correct to some extent, though pillows and blankets are of little comfort when passengers are squashed in for c 7 hours on a Transatlantic flight . B757 economy is the new cattle class , with a single aisle there is no room to take a walk about unlike the A320

The advantage of Ryanair and Easyjet is the flights tend to be relatively short , no need for pillows or blankets., the sense of being squashed in to a relatively small space is much less noticeable.

Thanks everyone for the feedback - not sure if we'll go this route yet but if we do I'll post back on the experience.

I'v flow T/A with Delta and EI in economy. The only real difference is that on a 757 you could be stuck in a window seat with 2 seats outside you whereas in a 330 you'll always have only one outside you. No different to being on a S/H EI or Fr flight, just you get fed and watered and a little pillow and blanket to keep you warm.:D

Flying to Toronto shortly and was disappointed to see that it is a 757 and not a A330. Anyway not a lot I can do about that. I'll have kids in tow and travelling economy, please tell me there are individual ife in the seat in front of you.

Flew Economy SNN to JFK recently... but I could see into business class and it looked nice. I found economy tight but comfortable and good staff on the plane.

Now... I was offered the chance to bid for an upgrade on the return leg... €300 to €900... I bid low and lost, but I really liked the idea!

Was there an individual entertainment system in the seat back in front of you?

EI must be doing well with business class. The flt my wife is booked on in sept has more than doubled since she booked. She got it for €1300 return, it's now being sold at €3290 return with only two seats left at that price.

The last 2 sets of financial results have shown a big jump in J Class loads and yields. EI seem to have definitely upped their game from what it was about 8 years ago.

And they announced new fully flat seats to be fitted across the A330 fleet by next Summer. So a further upgrade.
