Hi, Going to buy a anti backing bar. Any ones to avoid or good ones people have.

Do you have to give your crush measurements to these guys that make them like the bar then could be too long or short. Seen some guys on internet that sell so wondering on the process if you buy online.

I have seen prices from 65 up to 240 euro from them. Any advice appreciated.

    Thnaks.

Lots of different options out there. I think that the main thing to consider is whether you have a three or four bar crush. I paid about €90 for one recently that was suited to a three bar crush. It has two parts, one that fits on the crush horizontally behind the animal and the second part that slots down into it from the outside and hooks on to the top bar of the crush. I found that if I turned the horizontal bar upside down that it would fit a four bar crush also.
I think the distance from outside of crush to crush wall is fairly standard, unless you have an unusually wide or narrow crush.

There are a couple of older threads on here on anti backing bars. Not sure if the above link will work but you could do a search in the F&F Forum for anti backing bar and you'll get a few results.

Got 2 from Barrett Eng. near Ballinasloe, (google, youtube), one of which was custom specced, (i.e. a bit longer and tighter). Have both a couple of years now and they are very handy, cost c. €190 IIRC. They are generally made to fit standard crush piping; occasionally a beast backing will push it back if they hit it nearer where it is mounted on the piping, rather than on the middle or further extent. I use it in conjunction with the weighing scale and it's very useful.
