So im sorting all those small annoying jobs before i put my car up for sale.

    Aircon = Fixed
    New stereo facia = Ordered
    PDR = Soon

But the 4th and final issue i have is with my remote key fobs.

They will unlock the car but not lock it remotely.

Have checked and replaced batteries on both fobs
Replaced Fuse 63 and checked all multipin connectors to passenger footwell fusebox.
Tried the usual reset malarchy (Position 2 to position 1 4 times in 6 seconds while doors closed/seatbelts engaged).

All to no avail and im at my wits end, just wondered if anyone else has had this problem and found a solution.

    Thanks
    Jim

Is the central locking working properly when you put the key in the door or do you have to lock each door individually?

Central locking works fine it's the remote nature if it that isn't working.

    Can remotely unlock with key.

    But can't

    Remotely lock
Use universal unlock/lock to open/close windows/sunroof by holding buttons

Surprised nobody else has come across this. Such a common car.

If you have global open/close it could be a faulty door module or possibly the fuse box under the glove box.

Its nothing i have ever seen so would likely take a bit of time to diagnose properly.

One thing to try is the brown plug on the bottom of the fuse box under the glovebox dissconnect that and reconnect it.

I've something similar with an 05. Remote sometimes works, usually doesn't. Not a battery issue with the key. I just don't bother with it any more.

It most likley needs to be resynchronised with the car. It is a simple procedure -
Sit in the car, ignition off close doors and fasten both front seat belts
Turn ignition key from position I to II and back 4 times within 6 seconds
    Switch ignition all off
It is now in programming mode for 10 seconds
Press and release any key button
    A audible warning will sound
The 10 seconds starts again in case you have any firther keys to sync ortherwise wait the 10 secs or turn the ignition on to exit programming mode

If the above does not work the key remote may well be faulty.

Also done a quick google and came up with this:

The procedure is a little different for 2000-2006 vs. 2007-2011.

    Sit in car, doors closed:

    2000-2006

    1. Turn the ignition from "Off" to "Run" four times in six seconds. Key stops in "Run" position on fourth cycle.

    2. Turn the ignition to "Off." The car will chime to confirm that you've done everything correctly so far. Key is still in ignition

    3. Press any key on the first remote you're programming. Perform this within 20 seconds of Step 2. The car will chime to confirm programming.

    4. Repeat Step 3 with each additional remote*, all within the 20 seconds. Remove key from ignition.

*The remotes should be inside the vehicle during the procedure (eg. all on front seat.)

    2007-2011

    1. Turn the ignition from "Off" to "Run" eight times in ten seconds. Key stays in "Run" position on eighth cycle. The locks will cycle to confirm that you've entered programming mode.

    2. Press any key on the first remote you're programming. Perform this within 20 seconds of Step 1. The door locks will cycle to confirm programming.

    3. Repeat Step 2 with each additional remote, within 20 seconds of the prior programming. The locks will cycle after each successful programming.

    4. Turn the key to the "Off" position to exit the programming mode. Remove key from ignition.

Will recheck connectors again and douse the door module in wd40 again ( its just below a torx bolt you can remove near bottom of door )

Fuse 63 is definitely still perfect

    Thanks

    Hi there,

I've a similar issue with my 05 focus hatchback. Fob stopped working suddenly, i changed the battery and resynchronized it with the car by turning the key in the ignition. I got both audible beeps but it still wont work. Any help would be greatly appreciated as i really dont wanna have to pay money to a dealership or a place that makes replacement keys.
