Wife was thinking about cutting down her days from 5 to 4 days full time. She was just curious if this would raise any future issues with social welfare, pensions etc ?

    Thanks

Yes it will. She can cut her days from 5 to 4 if she likes but she won't get any Job seekers payment for that day for several reasons.
    A. You can only get JSB if available for full time work.
    B. To get JSB you must be unemployed at least 4 days out of 7
As regards pension it will make no difference

Being laid off is entirely different to deciding to cut back from 5 to 4 days

The only way it would affect her future entitlement to jsb as of current criteria is if she ever got laid off her average weekly earnings may not entitle her to full jsb but a reduced rate. The same may apply to illness benefit.
