I am extremely worried about a very close friend regarding his financial and college situation. He is so close to finishing his second last year in college at the moment and has work placement for around the next three months. However at the minute it is likely that he will not be able to do this. He has no support from home - I mean absolutely no support - never has and has recently got refused for a very very small bank loan.
He has come a long way with only it being a year till he is finished. He is trying to better himself through college. I am extremely worried about his well being and I am really worried about him.
Is there anything he can do? anywhere he can go? He really sees no other route but to quit college which is going to have detrimental effects on him.Can you please help me find some help for him.

What type of support does he need? Will he get paid during the work placement?
Is he getting a college grant? If not why not?

Does the college your friend attends have a 'student assist fund' in operation?? he could approach them and seek their advice, I know a lot of the work experience employers don't pay students, really he should contact the college he attends and talk with the students union

Just to second Ham Sambo. As far as I know most colleges have a student assistance fund for exactly this type of problem. He should go to the sstudents union and failing that to the student services.
