    Hi,

I have completed a relevant masters and some other training courses prior to setting up my construction company earlier this year.
Can anyone tell me if the fees are considered to be legitimate pre trading expenses?

    Thanks

Training courses are very important to get on job experience. It provide better understanding of practical issues and certain problems in setting up new business.

I would not claim a masters fee as a deduction for a sole trader.

What about for a limited company?

For a director I wound not allow it either.

As part of training of staff I know it would be allowed but I not for a director.

    Thanks for the reply Alan.
Its not the answer I was expecting as I wouldn't be able to do the work I am doing within the company without the masters.
Ah well, what can you do.
