could they not have just flown them to Liverpool?!

or have both been scrapped previously as opposed to being just dismantled for transporting?

EI-CZN flew to Liverpool in January and got a boat to Baltimore and is in storage in Carson Helicopters along with EI-MES. CXS left Waterford by road two months ago and GCE and SAR last week. All destined for storage in US. RCG is the only one now in the country unserviceable in Waterford. It may be flown out but unlikely as it needs a lot of work.

What the heck happened? I thought the S-61s were to be deployed elsewhere for service outside the country by the outside contractor agency? Also, weren't these airworthy up to about 2 years ago or even 18 months. It's not that long since the S-92s took over. How come they deteriorated in such a short period of time into not being airworthy?
