    Just a general question,

How many folk here have code 115 on their licence ? (Can a mod add a poll please ? Cant add from touch site)

Code 115 refers to organ donation , if you have 115 on the licence in section 12 then it means you are an organ donor (just to clear that up !)

I was asked when in NDLS if I wanted to keep it on my licence , I did. I am an organ donor but when I said that back to the woman she was a bit "ew no way" my excuse was if im not using them someone else might aswell !

So are you a donor ? Yes or no why or why not ?

I personally think its something people should have but I wouldn't go around trying to convince people to do it !

Do you have the code ? 20 votes

Yes I have code:115 for organ donation

    No I don't.

Yes I have 115 on my licence. I would be of the same opinion as you - no use to me when I am gone.

Is it requisite to have donated an organ before or does having it on mean you are open to it in future? I thought it was the former so I didn't get it but I have no objections to donating an organ in future if needs be.

Yep, I have 115 on my licence. I think it should be an opt out system rather than opt in. I think a lot of people simply don't think to opt in or forget about it.

I had to check as I don't remember asking for it, but yes, section 12 reads 115.

I don't have any code on mine.

Just an Organ Donor Consent on the back of it.
You have a choice of a kidney and a multi organ donor.

Multi Organ Donor doesn't sound right to me. And why would someone donate a kidney and keep the rest is beyond me tbh.

Can you be blacklisted from having a code 115 on your licence?

It would be interesting to know how many extra "donors" there are now as a result of the new licences that were introduced, some people will do anything to get a free licence !!!

I think too much 'whooha' is made of the donation process, its posthumous so who gives a notion what happens after you go pop. As above, it should be opt out, not in.

During my application in the NDLS, the lady behind the counter, noted that I had not ticked the box and it wasn't on my previous licence. She then asked me, politely, as a confirmation, if I would like it ticked. Now I'd simply forgot and said "yes please"

It was a nice way to promote more organ donation I suppose.

And before the high-horse brigade come along, no she did not pressure me, or make me feel uncomfortable, etc. It was simply the verification question after things like license categories, etc.

Hahaha.... yeah maybe she was thinking to herself: "I'm in bits, I better stock pile as many organs as I can!"

The problem in this country is that it's not even your choice. You can have 115 on your licence, or carry an organ donor card, and in the end you don't even have a say as it's down to next of kin. We need to change the law so that it's the dead persons decision not their next of kin.

Personally I don't give a toss what happens when I'm gone, whatever good bits they want they can have.
