If 2.80 is expensive then you really shouldn't be gambling at all

96 pages, Jez there will be some amount of waffle in that.

How does one buy said guide? Is it in shops?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,671 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

I think it just might be in the Racing Post

Correct. At the start of every tournament and new season, they do a bumper pull out with analysis, trends, stats etc free with the daily edition.
In depth analysis of all teams and selections for all the major markets like Golden Boot and Top Scorer markets and a couple of suggestions for some atypical markets in there as well ( like ref of the Final).
Of course, with different opinions on offer, your head might get melted with all the contradicting advice but I love it just to get in the mood for the tournament.

Can't wait for this. Can't wait for the WC actually. The best sports tournament in the world I reckon.

WC will be over by the time you get through the whole thing ;)

I bought the Racing Post World Cup guide last week.Very good read ,I ordered it from Amazon for £6 its around 15 quid in the shops.
Probably too late to be ordering it online now but its well worth getting if its still available in shops.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,818 ✭✭✭Bateman

Sitting at home, have not looked at yet but will probably start it tonight.

Finished the FourFourTwo preview and it wasn't up to much

Anyone seen any still on sale in Dublin city centre this afternoon? Had somebody try a couple of places and sold out. Might drop into Easons on way home

    €0.03 per page, bloody ripoff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

    If 2.80 is expensive

    x 340 (approx) days a year = the guts of a €1,000 :(
Yep it's expensive to buy all year.
I bought the Racing Post World Cup guide last week.

    Also have it.
Excellent read, very comprehensive but some details going to be out of date with injuries. players not picked for squad etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

Would have expected to see a load of WC offers but a bit disappointed.
Bet365 Money Back 0-0 was the only one worth looking at.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,415 ✭✭✭✭Collie D

Managed to get one at fifth time of asking with someone else checking another two places for me. Will try post up a few selections for anyone who didn't get one.

Checked 3 places today but no luck.

Greece bottom 2 at 13/8? How? They're 4/11 to get knocked out in groups on 365.

Should be finish bottom with two point stake.

Oh my apologies. I mis-read. Thought it meant for Greece to finish bottom 2 in group at that price! Would of lumped on

I try to avoid o/right goalscorers like the plague.
Always the chance your player isn't fit, gets injured etc and the prices never reflect the chances of this, Ronaldo prime example, not 100% sure of playing in the 1st match, dead heats are always a killer as well.
I'd look for a player that plays for a team that will not only go far
but have at least 1 game against a poor team.

Betfred offering double and treble 1st goalscorer prices, certainly worth a look for the "one" sided matches like Brazil v Croatia, Uruguay v Costa Rica, France v Honduras, Argentina v Bosnia.
    Check their prices 1st though.

Boyles offering double 1st goalscorers odds if he scores in the 1st 20 mins but their prices on the "expected" scorers are lower by a tic or 2.

Fair play for posting all of those, like others I couldn't get an RP in town at all yesterday evening but my own fault for forgetting to get one in the morning

All rather predictable, I can't believe they are betting against Uruguay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

For those who missed it yesterday, you can order it from
    racingpost.com/shop for €3.99!
Makes the paper at €2.80 look a bargain now ;).

Pretty big chance that that will be the same guy who did the CL final, Bjorn Kuipers of Holland.

4 years ago Webb did the CL and got the WC final.

Kuipers had the EL final last year, Confed Cup final after that.

(copy/pasted this post to the WC thread)
