Is it possible. Twice today, atleast the first time whilst shopping, I was atleast able to hold my phone in my hand, so did not look quite as stupid. Second time both hands occupied it looked like I was talking to my self.

A first world problem, if ever there was one.

Why would you hold a phone in your hand and talk through a headset?
Just put the phone to your ear!!!

Always assume people are talking to themselves; then spot the earphone and still think they're talking to themselves anyway.

There's a guy at work who walks around with a hands free headset on all the time, looks like such a tool bag.

A few times I looked like I was conducting an orchestra while talking and I did get some funny looks...

I don't really use handsfree sets but whenever I get a call when I'm listening to music on my phone(with in ear earphones), I pick up and then hold the microphone/volume control piece in my hand and bring it closer to my mouth.

It's not that the call quality is poor or anything, I just don't want to look like I'm talking to myself/signing along.

It's not possible to look sane with them, you look mad, or at least a dick.

Those ear pieces with the flashing light means you're more important than the idiots that hold a phone to their ear.

You appear to have misunderstood the very essence of a "hands free" set...

It does lead to the highly embarrassing situation of saying hello back to someone thinking that they were talking to you.

I remember reading about blue-tooth earpieces back in the day and thinking to myself how great it would be. Motorola gave us the flip open StarTrek Communicator and now we were going to get the Lt Uhura Wireless communicator earpieces too. It was going to be another thing that made it feel like we were really living in the 21st Century.

Then reality hit home when they finally arrived on the scene.

"Oh, everyone using one looks like a gibbering mental case mumbling to themselves! Didn't think of that!!"

The only people that I don't think looks either mental or pretentious using one are Taxi/Delivery Drivers.

Funny they way things turn out :D

I just hold the microphone bit on the cable up to my mouth so it's evident I am talking on the phone (or a nutbag talking to his headphone's cable..)
