A GSM is used to monitor your alarm system by text or voice. It can use a bill sim or a ready to go sim card. Please note with ready to go you may need to top up your credit every 6 months or so to keep the sim active. In most cases if you use the GSM off the type of alarm system you have installed it will allow you remote access to the alarm to set/unset of the system also.
