Mini Cooper Service - what does this symbol mean?

Today a "service" symbol popped up on my car, if you scroll to page 6 of this manual it is the last symbol - "safety inspection and road test"

    http://www.scribd.com/doc/58891914/MINI-Cooper-R55-R56-R57-Service-Manual-2007-2011-Excerpt

Does anyone know what I am supposed to do now? How do I get rid of the service indicator? My car has recently been serviced and isn't due to go through MOT for another while. I should think that all safety aspects are already in order.

Had similar on my old BMW, it's just a notification to tell you the car is due it's MOT (assuming your car is a UK import). There is a way of turning it off or just changing the date via the menu on the BMW so probably similar for the MINI.

A quick google brings this up:

Usually on most cars it's a counter either mile based or date based where when the car hits say 10k miles or a year since last service the service light appears. Most likely what happened when you serviced it the mechanic never reset the service light.

This should help to reset it yourself...
