I'm planning on learning to drive this Summer. I know where I'll be doing my test and the instructor I'll be using for the 12 lessons ( that town is a good bit away) So is it possible to go to an instructor in my home town and get a couple of lessons with them or do I have to sign up to 12 lessons with them as well.

You have to do 12 EDT lessons in total. You can do them with any qualified ADI. You don't have to do them all with one instructor. You can do some of them with one ADI and, the rest with another one if you want. You generally get a cheaper price if you book a set number of lessons (such as 6 or 12) at a time. Doing the odd one here and there would tend to be more expensive, but if that doesn't bother you, don't worry about it.

I would check out that you feel comfortable and confident of the the instructor you've chosen before you pay out for the full 12 lessons. unfortunately, too often here we've seen threads & comments by people who have paid out for the full 12 and end up not feeling happy with the instructor.

    Thanks.
I have a fair idea who I want to do the lessons with in the test town. I say I'll book them for 12 lessons because they give a discount if you book 12 lessons. They also have a very high pass rate nearly all my friends/family members passed with them first time. They meant to be a bit strict at times but there meant to be great.
