Don't think we've many Louth boardsies. If there are how to do think you will get on?
    Pushed them close last year.
    Both have had poor leagues.

I'd like to see Louth win this. It will be a tough ask for them but they've put in some good performances against Kildare in the last few years that I would not rule them out. The win against Westmeath will surely have boosted their confidence.

Louth brought Ryan Burns straight up from playing minor this year to the senior panel. Came on and scored a goal against Westmeath but I wonder will we see him again this time around with the game happening during the lad's leaving cert. Certainly a name we should look out for in the future

This game is hardly being televised is it?

There certainly seemed to be a lot of them around back in July 2010 :pac:
Should be a good game. Kildare fans' hopes seem to be lower than they've been since before McGeeney took over and Louth always seem to cause them problems. Whichever team wins will fancy their chances of making the Leinster final.

Pity it's not televised as it will be a much better game to watch than Dublin - Laois.

    I'm a louth boardsie:D

If we play to our potential and every player performs on the day, we stand a very good chance of getting a result.
We had a dreadful league, played very well v Westmeath, but both sides shooting was awful that day.

Kilare are the superior team on paper and going on the past few seasons results, but we near fear Kildare and have a good record against them.
In the qualifiers last year they only pulled away in the last 10 minutes, minus Johnny Doyle this year, new management team, championship day in croke park anything can happen.

We must take every chance we get against Kildare and not face the usual " so near yet so far with Louth ".
The teenager Ryan Burns has leaving cert exams on the monday morning after the game so not sure if he will be involved.
Have not heard of any injuries to the current panel, so all ready to go.

Looking forward to it on sunday, its been a while since we played in Croke park.

For me anyway this is the football match of the weekend. Not a forgone conclusion and has implications for my own county.
Life post-JD for Kildare will be interesting to watch. I remember Wexford players actually got a minor boost when Matty went although they didn't sustain it. Lets see how Kildare react. In Jason Ryan they have a top notch manager but this is the first role hes had with such a weight of expectation.

Whats the feeling in Louth towards O'Rourke Andrew? My auld fella works in Drogheda and he hasn't got great feedback from the locals on him. Trying to impose an Ulster style on them from what I've heard. I certainly don't think Louth can win this if they go man for man anyway so maybe that's whats needed.

a couple of years ago louth had a right crack at leinster- only robbed by meath in the final, but beating a good kildare team at the time along the way. I though that they might kick on for league and championship the next year but it never really happened for whatever reason. I think they should run close again this year if they hit kildare quickly and get a good start. If they have a slow start i doubt it.

Kildare will be missing two of our better league performers in Darroch Mulhall and Mick O'Grady. Peter Kelly is also doubtful. The Kildare team is likely to be very young and inexperienced. If they don't start well all bets are off. Louth should fancy their chances with a game already under their belts.

With the league campaign we have endured, Orourkes head was on the block for sure, but you know yourself, one championship win in the summer soon wipes away the pain of the league. We were woeful in the league, the defeat in Newry the worst I have seen a lot team play , my father commented the same and he is in his late 70's following Louth all his life.
The defence tactics employed did not suit our style at all. We always tried to play football. I stand corrected on this but even with playing defensive football we had one of the poorest defensive records in the league.
The players were not enjoying it also, you could see it in them and a couple of game players bickering with themselves not a good sign.
But we went to Mullingar and I feared the worst when Westmeath got the
goal , but we rallied well and were the better team on the day, no question.
Orourke got his tactics spot on that evening, the whole team stuck to the defensive gameplan, so it leaves Louth supports in no mans land deciding whether to back him or sack him . Me personally I think he will go at the end of this championship.

We must hit the ground running on Sunday and not let Kildare build a lead.
Our shootting must be bang on and 15 men play from start to finish.
Paddy Keenan our inspiration, the best Louth player I have seen in my time, pure class and a joy to watch
Kildare might be a bit ahead of us, but like i said, we have no fear of playing Kildare.

Do Louth have the players that could go out and play an attacking style though? Granted they do have some nice forwards but you also need the defenders to be on top of their game at the same time.

While I'm sure it's frustrating for players and fans alike perhaps a more defensive style with some counter attack is what was needed for them overall?

With the exception of the Westmeath game in the previous round, thats the only time our defenders have been on form all season.
We were cleaned out from midfield back to the goalie in most of the league matches.
When we were behind in a few of the league games and needed to try and rescue something from the match, we pushed forward and attacked and seemed a more threatening team.
Playing defensive football in the first half of some games with a gale force wind behind us wasnt enjoyable to watch to say the least.

The wide open pitch of croke park might catch out some of our defenders who have miles on the clock or just not up to the pace of it.

Midfield onwards we have the potential to rack up a decent score.Brian White on form is a smashing player, Andy Mcdonald will run all day. Shannon Lennon great target man and great score getting, Derek Maguire tricky forward and superb game in Mullingar. Midfield a key battle, Paddy Keenan would die for the Louth cause , but desperately needs somebody to carry the fight with him for 70 minutes.

If that team starts we are in big trouble. That defence is far too leaky and I don't see that forward line getting enough scores.

So who do we think will win this later today?

I'm going to go for Kildare by 2 and a close game throughout. I'd like to see Louth winning and I'm sure the possibility of a crack at the royals in croker is great motivation but Kildare will probably have too much for them.

Whoever wins will have a huge advantage over Meath in the next round (assuming they get past Carlow) in having at least one really competitive game under their belt. I'd nearly put the winners of this game as slight favorites to get to the Leinster final as a result

1-9 to 0-4 after 22 mins according to the Twitter machine. Awful game of football being played at Hyde. Score
    Mayo leading 0-3 to 0-1.

1-22 to 1-7 to Kildare in the end. Was anyone here at the game? Were Kildare as strong as this result suggests?

Yes at the game kildare were much the better side. Think ryan has had a good influence in the lads.

    CILL DARA ABÚ

Laois playing good stuff now dublin very brash going for goals over and over

Kildare played well but Louth were incredibly poor. The game was over once McNally goaled. I wouldn't be reading too much into it. The Kildare defence will face much tougher tasks in the weeks ahead.

Kildare's forward line is a lot more potent this year and the midfield is a lot more mobile. Whether the backs have improved since the National League remains to be seen. I think we will need Peter Kelly back fit sooner rather than later.

Well done to Kildare today, miles better team on the day from the minute the ball was thrown in .
First to every ball, wanted it more, some superb scores taken and tore apart the Louth defence with ease in the first half.
As a Louth man, it was a complete horror show, some of the players are not up to inter county standard at the higher level. The bench offered nothing either.
Aidan ORourke said its the fittest any Louth team has ever been.Kildare out paced us at will today:confused:
One of the most gutless and poor Louth displays I have witnessed .
