I have a 2007 1.9 TDI VW Caddy and the EGR/minifold need cleaning.

I'v taken the throttle body off and could get only two bolts of the EGR housing off because I could not get to the bottom bolt.

This is in the way of getting an extension through to the bolt.

Is there anyone who I can trust to do a good job, id prefer that they take the manifold off to do it properly.

there's a chap out in Clare that does EGR/DPF cleaning and fitting swirl flaps.
I'll root out his contacts as he was advertising over on bmw-drivers.net forum.

Mr. muscle oven cleaner, one of the few products available that still contains the chemicals needed to break down the carbon soot. Have used it before and works very well, plus is flammable so is burned off almost instantly. Also used for cleaning sticking vanes on turbos, used it on my b6 a4 before for the same purpose and it was perfect.

Be careful using oven cleaner - it can damage the aluminium in the manifold if left for too long. There's also the difficulty of making sure all residues are cleaned out before starting the engine. If you have time, soaking it for a day or two in kerosene will loosen a lot of it.

They told me to replace it.

The problem is getting the parts off (manifold and egr)

Try Brendan Holmes of Alpina Motorworks, out in Castlemungret (opposite the Irish Cement Factory). They specialise in German cars: - http://www.alpinamotorworks.ie/
