Updating Ariva 120

I have an Ariva 120, that I keep in a holiday home. It works fine, but the firmware is way out of date. I have spent a long time setting up the channel list as I want it.
1, If I update the firmware, will I lose my channel list ?
2, If I save the channel list before hand, will I be able to reload it under the new firmware. ?
I don't want to brick the unit.
    Thanks.

If it is working to your satisfaction why upgrade the firmware?

Sounds to me like you have no other reason to upgrade than it is old firmware ...... which to me is not reason enough to do so.

If its working why fix it? ;)

It's fairly slow to navigate the Menu, so I reckon if it didn't upset the channel list, it would be worth it.

You sound like you're like me who has a motto of "if it's working ok, keep tinkering with it till it's not!! :D

On a serious note, on all of those Ariva's, the channel list is specific to both the box model and the firmware version, so if you change firmware, you will have to redo the channel list.

I wouldn't be so sure that upgrading will help the navigation speed. If you wanted to try something, you could save a "dump" of the firmware and channel list, upgrade and see how you get on and use the "dump" to revert to the current version if you don't notice any improvement before you go and redo the channel list.

you will loose the channels its beeter not to load old stuff on new firmware the box can crash . the latest firmware fore the 120 is

    ver 2.18b8

then theres the option of the patched software to expand the uses if you wanted that

You could be right, but at least I now know, I will lose my channel list if I upgrade my firmware.
