I was using my slash hook to clear a gap throw a ditch and I seen this nest out of the corner of my eye....unfortunately I was to late :(.. Does anyone know what bird would lay these sort of eggs?? Blue in colour.

    That'll be a Blackbird nest I reckon.

    Song Thrush.
Yeah, could be. The eggs are very similar.

They are quite different - too much first hand experience when I was a boy - and the Song Thrush lines its nest with mud as appears to be the case here.

While on a walk in Kilmessan I came across very similar eggs strewn along the path. Hope they werent song thrush eggs. Looking at pictures I have trouble telling them apart. Otherwise I'mhoping for natural predation rather than tomfoolery...

They are very different. Its a song thrush - so sad.

Always check before removing hedges and bushes at this time of year
