    Hey guys,

I currently have a provisional license and am wondering where are the best places to drive around if you don't have insurance, aka private grounds. I know there's the IDA industrial estate but I'm not 100% sure if that's private ground and would be okay for me to practice driving on. Any help ye could give me on places to practice driving would be much appreciated. Thanks! :D

Don't be tempted to drive in industrial estates or shopping centre public carks (when closed) without insurance, they are classed as public areas and you need to be covered by car insurance if stopped. You would be better off spending money on a few driving lessons towards your full licence than chance being stopped, otherwise try asking a local farmer if you could drive on one of his fields sometime.

My main problem is, is that my dad's insurance company won't insure me until I have 12 lessons done. But its a bit pointless to do the full 12 lessons without being able to practice between them, and I don't live near any farms or know any farmers/anyone with adequate sized land.

You'll need to do them anyway. It's not really pointless. You'll pick up bad habits easily when left to yourself.
