Make sure there is enough oil in the engine for a start, and first try and turn it by hand with a socket on a bar, via the nut on the front pulley. This is just to make sure its not half seized, have stuck valves etc...

You might have to bleed out the diesel system if its been lying that long, but try and start it first as the diesel system its often fine even after years of being idle. If the engine turns and smokes but wont fire up, try putting the flame of the blow lamp into the air intake manifold, plenty of hot air is normally enough the get even the most stubborn diesels to start!

Other people may well have other and more in depth suggestions before you go and start it but that's all I would bother with.

If the engine is free, (and you aren't going to be putting a socket on a 2130, hydraulic pump in the way) just loosed the fan belt and see if she turns. Check the oil first, for any water that may have got in. If engine is stuck, remove the starter and use a bar in the ring gear to see if you can shift it.

thanks, I removed the starter and got a long bar but the ring gear is jammed tight, will not move at all...any suggestions,

if you cannot turn it either way, probably seized with water the exhaust. check the dipstick for signs of water in the sump or unusually high oil levelyou could try pulling out the injectors to see if that allows the engine turn with the bar. ,if not, fill the exhaust and inlet manifold with diesel andleave for a few days and then see if you can turn with the bar. you could try a tow to try and break it free, but after three years you are most likely looking at an engine out overhaul with new liners and pistons etc.

i would pull the injectors and get some diesel down each cylinder. Or RedeX if you can get it locally . be carefull with those Bosch "pencil" injectors don't rush taking them out, you don't want to break one. Let her sit a day and try and move the engine with through bar. or if you have a few mates over, put her in a Lowish gear and rock her back and forth.
