    Hello wise ones,
I would like to take my family to "live" in Europe late this summer before my mat leave ends. There's myself, hubbie, a 2 yr old and a six month old. I was thinking an apartment in Nice, France but am open to suggestions
    Any ideas, TIA

It can sit in the thirties at night time down there, would it be hard for the little ones to sleep ?

    Wouldn't be much rain either

That's the reason I haven't booked Nice, now I'm convinced to take it off the list altogether given your reply.

the world is your oyster to be honest.
My experience would be more of germany and austria, and I live in Munich with a 2 kids (2 and 4 years old but the difference between them is 18months like yourself) so could recommend looking into that.
Every city and town has open air pools with slides and kiddies play areas, and admission charges can be very reasonable.
The only question is how to find middling affordable family accomodation.
In Munich for instance you would find it hard to get an apartment (as theres already 50,000 hotel beds) but somewhere like the Novotel has family rooms for middling cheap. For instance this place which is actually a suite Novotel so very large rooms and a kitchenette/ microwave etc. Two weeks in July works out at 79euro a night, which is not the worst. Its also only 10min walk from one of Munichs largest open air pools.

House swap? We did for Paris last summer and it worked perfectly. Also means you have a kitchen to cook for the kids. When our babies were very small they went to Slovenia and budapest for first hols.
Budapest particularly has lots to do for kids.
