I'm getting a bit sunburnt while wearing my cycling helmet. Do any of you wear cycling caps instead of a helmet?
If you do, is there one that you'd recommend?

Instead no, underneath yes, Peak is especially handy in the rain.
    I also like a bandana.
I found the latter very useful climbing the pyrenees in 40 degrees last summer.

I have a few, but they are all very same and usually one size fits all. Get a cheap one for the start maybe.
This one was my favourite until I gave it to a friend.

I bought one of these in Marrey's in Ballinrobe last Thursday for €10

Exactly what I needed. Light - don't even know it's there. Protects my head and ears from getting burned. Wore it yesterday and today and delighted with it.

Video here showing different ways to use it

This Is Cambridge make beautiful handmade casquettes, couldn't recommend them highly enough. If you're looking for replica ones then Prendas is a good place to look.

Or a buff which you can get in most outdoor store. I use mine all year round.

That video is hilaire! His self-satisfied look as he ties up his headcloth in different patterns!
Looks like a useful cap, all the same.

What about suncream? Factor 50 on your noggin and you won't go wrong.

I got one of the Boards caps and find it great, primarily for the protection the peak offers but also as said above, for trapping sweat. I wear it under my helmet and don't find it problematic in terms of heat retention.

That said, the last day that I went over the two gaps, I blew up wearing a windproof gillet on the Wiclow gap and ended up taking off my cap in order to allow the heat exit more quickly. Unfortunately this also freed up all of the sun cream and sweat on my forehead, so I promptly switched a barely noticeable temperature drop for sunscreen and sweat in the eyes.

    Oh how I laughed.

I also have a Rapha Belgian Winter Cycling hat with a peak that I adore, and frequently wear as my winter hat, even in non cycling situations (it looks retarded, but then so do I.)

This stuff doesn't run like other sunblock when you start to get sweaty.

The one I linked claims to be active after 15 minutes. I mostly wear a cap but sometimes it is too warm for one.
