They're worth money, so not that easy to come across.

You won't get free wooden pallets anywhere. As mentioned they are worth some money and they make handy firewood. I get a constant supply of pallets on a weekly basis and they are really handy for garage shelving.

May I ask what sort of garden project you are doing? Pallets are generally very soft and of poor quality. Would need lots of treatment to keep out the weathering.

The blue ones are not for sale .

They belong to Chep , and are returned and re-used

You could check in around Industrial Estates. Some companies get goods in but dont reuse the pallets and leave them outside.

You might get used fertiliser pallets from a local farm supply store or co op. About 4ft 6 by 4 ft. Not great to last outdoors though. Might need some paint or preservative. They get heavy when wet.

Try the supermarket warehouses / Woodies , - they get loads of deliveries on disposable pallets .

Its its blue its a chep pallet and non-disposable . - If it has a name branded on the side it is non-disposable .

Otherwise all small pallets non-branded are mainly disposable .

    Hi,

    Replying to an old post

Have a load of old pallets / wood available, free to take away from the Santry area.

They are quite damp, but would be usable in a week or so if stored indoors.

I can send photo's if interested.

Have free pallets in Dublin 7 if somebody wants to take away. About 12 standard size. 5 longer ones.

There is a place on the N2 between Ardee and carrickmacross that refurbish and sell pallets. They have a sign on the main road advertising free pallets for firewood if anyone is still interested. There is another place just outside Ardee on the Slane / Collon road beside the hunterstown inn pub that sell pallets aswell. Both are within 10 minutes of each other

I have a pallet to give away in Tramore. Another couple of months and it will be turned into kindling. Its not a euro pallet or anything splendid, but it's an OK pallet, if anyone wants it pm me.

You can pick up free pallets in most industrial estates or warehouses. Usually the warehouses have to pay to have them collected so they don't mind, but you should ask before taking them. Also, you should google what to look for in a pallet before taking any. They'll have printed on them how they're treated, as in, ht for heat treated etc. Some may have been used to transport chemicals or corrosive materials and may not be suitable for burning or construction. Also have a good look at how they're constructed, some are very well built, so if you're dismantling them they can be a nuisance to get boards off in one piece. You'll need a sledge hammer, good crow bar and a claw hammer, and possibly steel soled shoes!

Check out some landscaping or construction companies. They get materials delivered on pallets and my dad's company are always looking to get rid of them.

Do companies really pay to have pallets removed.

I worked in the drinks trade before and a guy used to pay is€2 each for them. He was then able to sell them for a fiver to Cork businesses by the Port. He was making an absolute f..ing fortune. He was getting bit 100 from us a week and more elsewhere too.

I noticed towards the end of me working there however that some companies wanted an empty pallet in return for every full pallet they deliver or else would charge.

In Waterford the Greenstar recycling place generally has stacks of pallets - usually in a heap so you need two people to sort them out, but you can take anything from the heaps.

Hi, I am looking for any sort of timber for wood working projects during the summer break for our student group.
Can I collect multiple pallets 5 at a time ? We are planning to extend those projects to run all year as free after school activities therefore I would need a semi constant supply of them.
We are not for profit and not funded hence the search for free materials.
    Thank you for your reply.
    Rolf
