Do you have to update the Herd Register ,even when you register all animals on Line.Sound like duplication .

unless you have registered for on line herd register you still have to fill out the book

Registering on line & 0n line herd register are 2 different issues

if only takes a couple of seconds to set up

If you are using agfood (which you are) you can use it to register calve and animal movements etc. but unless you tick a box on the site to say you are no longer using the herd register, you still have to keep it up to date! Important!

So in essence if you want to discontinue the book make sure you find that box online and tick it. You must still keep animal remedy records

We have agrinet on the phones here. Use that for calf reg, remedies and breeding records. Do animal movements online and do a reconciliation between the two regularly. Agrinet on the phone is a huge improvement on having it on the laptop or pc. Still save info to laptop and cloud once per week min.

Just did it there while I was registering a calf . Glad I saw it here or I would have been blissfully unaware that we had no herd register since I gave up kingswood :o

son has Herd watch on his phone but the register is not Dept approved , I don't carry a smart phone but once he updates to cloud I have it automatically on the laptop and pc

he registers the calves with herdwatch , a lot handier than logging on each time

animal remedy, breeding etc vaccines and general tasks ,

it's basic (just like ourselves ) but it's adequate for our needs

I am after activating Bovine Electronic Herd Register on Line. What the next step?

Ours is set up as an online one for the last few years.
Dad doesn't trust these newfangled computer gadgets though so he keeps the blue book going as well.

    Guy,

When you set it up, do you have to manually enter the records for the blue book or are they imported automatically?

    That's all

just make a note in the blue book " using on line register from 1st June 2014 "
or some wording to that effect

you still have to keep remedy records though
