Cycling on a torn hamstring

    Hey guys,

I've been training for a big cycle that's coming up in a few weeks.
The other day I played a game of football for the first time in a while. I had to come off as I had trouble with my hamstring. The next day I had a bit of bruising behind my leg. Looks like the hamstring is torn.
It looks a lot worse than it feels. I'm only at a slight discomfort now when I straighten my let completely.
I haven't cycled on it since, but I had a plan to go from Dublin to Wicklow town and back today.
Anyone have any advice on what I should do? Should I leave it rest, or am I ok to cycle on it?

    Cheers guys

If you want it to get worse and double your recovery time, do the cycle.
If you want it to heal properly, rest, rest, rest and more rest with ice for ten mins every ten/twenty mins.
Go to the doc if you're unsure.

Depending on which grade of tear it is. I had a grade two tear and took 6-8 weeks for initial healing.

Strengthing exercises also but a physio would be good.

Go see Physio (not physical therapist), get him to do strength test and see how it is.

Physio should help. Tore mine a week before going to France to do Mont Ventoux a few years ago. Drink lots of water and do whatever the physio tells you. Rest though until you see the physio.

Things seem to be grand. There's no signs of serious damage. He told me to rest it for another two days and not to do anything too vigorous for about a week.

Cheers guys. Could have been a lot worse.
