    Hi Guys,
Just looking for some advice on which car to buy.
I have a 06 passat 2.0L 140 BHP, going to change for another passat but not sure which to go for. Its either a 09 2.0L 140 BHP or an 09 2.0L 110 BHP BM. Both have same miles and are the same price. I really like the power I have with my current passat (140 bhp), would I notice a big difference going back to the 110 BHP. would there be much difference in MPG.

Get the more powerful car. You'll only be disappointed afterwards and not to the point where a couple of mpg makes it worthwhile. Plus if it's motorway mileage the 110s 5 speed box won't help.

A car like that needs the 140 at least.

1 rule when getting a car, don't settle for anything! Get the one that you want the most.

    Thanks guys,
Nearly all the the driving would be country roads, heard somewhere before there wouldnt be that much difference between the two, but going back to the 1.9 110bhp you would notice a fair difference.

That 2.0tdi 140bhp is a lovely engine and has nice torque. I recently traded my 06 Passat 140bhp for a 2010 A4 136bhp tdi and the difference in power torque is amazing. The A4 is the newer common rail low emission's diesel and the torque difference is very noticeable. Give me the PD diesel engine any day. The cars you are looking at will both have this newer engine also. Drive them and you will notice the difference....

I went for the 2.0l 110bhp model after. Where there is a difference in power is not all that much and I find it lively enough.

Why did you go for that one?

It had higher spec and was bought and serviced by our local main dealer. Other was probably sound aswell. Will save a few Bob on tax and mpg.

Probably won't save anything on the fuel front in the real world. I've found that the 140hp to be more economical than the 110hp and the 1.6diesel in the real world when fitted in the same car models.
