Hi there, I must admit to being fed up paying over the odds for a full set of easi meche highlights at the hairdresser. So what I want to know is what products you buy to do it at home. I mean I know I am being essentially charged for bleach. I have done a small bit of research and am confused. Some say use powder bleach and some say cream bleach with oil and 40% developer. Others say no more than 20% developer. And toners I'm not sure what one to get cause they say they can turn hair purple what I want is white blonde with no yellow or brassy yellow tones. Just need roots doing at the moment. But then some other people say just buy the root touch up product. Does anyone do this at home sucessfully please. I'm lost Thanks for Help.

Honestly I wouldn't attempt it. Yes it's a lot of money to fork out for highlights but when you make a balls of it like I have done in the past you end up having to go and pay even more to get them fixed and treated. Unless you know someone who knows what they're doing then I wouldn't chance it, the bleach has to be kept a certain distance away from the scalp or you'll burn the head off yourself. You'll also most probably end up with orange roots after 2 weeks and blonder ends, not a good luck! Personally I wouldn't recommend it.

Totally agree. I ruined my hair trying to dye it blonde when i was younger. Maybe look for a local salon's trainee evening, or if you're in a city a hairdressing college - you can get your hair done for a fraction of the usual price, and it's all overseen by senior stylists.
