    Hi Guys ,

looking for some advice/suggestions. I'm travelling with 2 friends (3 females aged between 27 - 37) to America in Oct.

We are staying in LA for 5 nights (Attending an event here) , then we are driving to Las Vegas and staying there for a further 5 nights.

We have another 3 nights/4 days before we fly home from LAX (LA Airport) , can anyone suggest what we can go or where to go for these days? we don't really want to have to fly anywhere so driving distance from Las Vegas and back to LA for the night before we fly home would be what we are looking for.

Any other tips for a first timer in America would also be great :)

    Thank you

San Diego would be worth a visit. You will find lots to see and do there. A nicer city than LA in my opinion.

It might help if you stated what you're into? San Diego would be just another city, do you want to stay in the countryside, visit a National Park or go shopping and drinking?

You could, for example, stay somewhere like here

I'd go to San Fran - hire a car or a flight, but I just love it there :)

Shopping and Drinking would be on the agenda , although we will just be coming from 6 nights in Vegas so maybe a nice hotel that has a spa and a chilled out vibe would be good but not too far from touristy things to do!

Is there any must see's in San Deigo? Whats it known for?

    Thanks.

So you're looking for a trip you can do in 3 - 4 days from Vegas? There's no doubt about what you should do - drive up to Zion National Park (2.5 hours) and then on to Bryce Canyon and see some of the most incredible scenery on the planet. Don't bother going to San Diego, it's a decent city with some nice beaches but if you've already been to L.A. it isn't really going to give you anything particularly amazing in terms of a new experience.

With the amount of time you have you could drive to Zion, spend a night staying in Springdale just outside the park. Do a hike or two in the park in the morning (get up early to do this in order to beat the heat). Then drive on to Bryce Canyon, an amazing drive. It's about 1.5. hours from Zion. Bryce is even more incredible looking than Zion - check it out.

From there if you have the time you would be well advised to drive Highway 12 up to Boulder in Grand Escalante. This is generally regarded as one of the greatest drives in the World. Check out a video of it here:

If you drive route 12 you should stay at Boulder Mountain Lodge, it's a nicely designed rural boutique motel. Their restaurant featuers all local produce and meats and is generally regarded as one of the best in the entire Southwest.

I've done the above trip several times from Vegas, including in October when the weather is actually quite pleasant in the South West. You can totally do this trip over three nights. If you do it you won't regret it.
