    Hi Guys, need your help

Bought a new car from a dealer.

Dealer said he would take my old car, give it to a motor trader(?) and get me 200 euro for it.

I gave the dealer my old car along with the log book, he said he would ring me when he gets the money off the motor trader.

Phone never rang and I got an eflow bill for 6.20 for an unpaid trip on the M50. I rang the dealer and said he would sort out the M50 bill and get the motor trader to ring me about the money.

Phone never rang and i get a second letter from eflow stating my unpaid bill is now 47.20 as a penalty for non payment.

I go to the dealer and he rang the motor trader infront of me and said the motor trader is going to pay the eflow bill and to call back tuesday for the 200 euro.

I call tuesday and find the guy i was dealing with has been sacked and the person hasnt a clue about my old car etc

Bit of a crappy situation. Dont really care for the 200 euro or the car as im happy with my new car. All I want is the car changed out of my name and the m50 toll bill paid

Any help guys would really be appreciated and I know I shouldnt have handed over the logbook

call eflow and tell them and get them to change the details. you might have to send them on a bill of sale to prove you are no longer the owner, but they should be fine, I had something similar myself, although i knew the trader, but it was sorted easily.

there's a form the Dealer is supposed to fill in and give you when he takes a car in to the trade like that. You shouldn't have handed over the taxbook without getting it. Do as vibe says, call eflow.

you gave your car away without any paperwork confirm it was no longer yours?

Give eflow the name and address of the dealer and explain what you did.

    That's bollocks.

Guarantee the guy you were dealing with is still working there.

I was in the very same situation as you before OP. I gave the logbook with the car I was trading in and the dealer or one of his mates drove the car over the toll over 10 times!!! I called him and was promised them all paid. 3 months later I got a solicitors letter from EFlow's solicitor promising court action if the tolls werent paid. I rang EFlow and the solicitor and explained the situation to no avail. Eventually I had to get a sworn statement signed by my solicitor which only cost €10 stating that the car was in fact in the dealers possession at the time of the toll charges and that was the end of it.

If worse comes to worse, that's what you do!
During that time I rang shannon to see if there was anything they could do and they said that I should send them a copy of the sworn statement to them in case of any crimes or penalty points that occur with the vehicle.

    UPDATE:

right so Ive got a declaration form from Shannon and am about to get it stamped by a commissioner of Oaths.

my problem now is what do I fill in on the declaration form when it asks me who the car now belongs to? Will i leave it blank or will i put down the dealer (bear in mind the dealer has given the car away already to some other bloke)

    regards

    Shygal

You gave it to the dealer. Who cares what he did with the car?

I would put the dealer's name / address anyway.

    exactly this.

It's nothing to do with you where it went from there, it's his responsibility to deal with it.
