    Howdy. Doing my Co-op atm so have three years of the course done.

    Hours wise, you're looking at around 20-25 contact hours per week. Usually 10 of those hours are lectures, the rest are generally equally divided between labs and tutorials.

    BUT, and this is the big but, you need to be looking at doing a fair amount of work outside of these hours too, working on projects, studying, preparing for tutorials, etc. And that's not even taking into account stuff you want to learn outside of the curriculum (new languages, side projects, etc).

    If you're doing the bare minimum, it's not that intensive a course, but if you're really trying to do well, it can be pretty full on.

    ====

    The course is fairly well split between practical and theory. You'll have some modules that are almost exclusively practical (your programming modules, game design modules) with small bits of theory, and you'll have some that are almost exclusively theory (one or two of the Maths modules, Systems Analysis).

    Most modules have a lab element to them which involves you working on some sort of project related to what you're learning in lectures, but sometimes this is just to reinforce concepts learned as opposed to being the main focus of the module.

    ====

    That maths. Oh the big bad maths that everyone thinking of doing any Computer Science course frets about.

    Honestly, it's not that bad. If you work at it, attend your maths lectures from day one, go to tutorials and do the sample questions you're given, you'll more than likely be fine.

    I can't stress the go to tutorials part enough. These are immensely helpful if you're struggling with what's been covered in lectures.

    The topics in the maths are mostly algebra, vectors, probability and logic. So if you're OK with those, you'll be fine.

    Best of luck if you do decide to do the course. If you've any more questions, fire ahead.
