Ireland is the only country that didn't express sympathy for the dead Jews in Belgium

This week 4 Jews were killed in Belgium. All European nations, including Turkey, sent expressions of sympathy to the victims. One country didn't - IRELAND. Any reason for this?

We can add this to the long list of hostility Ireland has shown towards the Jews in recent years. Anti-semitic graffiti at new central bank, posters in Limerick, hate-mail to Shatter, Paul Murphy calling for another Intifada. No wonder Israel labelled Ireland the most hostile country in Europe.

Are you equating Israel and Judaism?

I got to here and decided this whole thing is a windup.

Because obviously we Irish are as anti-semitic as the nazis and the tsars combined. And even if we weren't, you'll keep telling yourself we are because you love the idea of it.

    Hope that answers your question.

Nope. The Jews murdered in Belgium were European. Hence all European nations (except us) sent our condolences. It takes a civil servant about 2 minutes to write up a letter by the way.

You're a very angry young man. Have you tried not being a very angry young man? It's nice. I promise.

Did we officially express sympathy with the dead Americans in California this week?

We must be all anti-America so.

God, is there anyone we don't hate.

Funny, Jews murdered in Belgium. Ireland has the problem with anti-semtitism.

It'd just be a token gesture anyway.

I don't see the point sending a message of sympathy out if it's completely false.

You seem to have a real bee in your bonnet op...Do you know any Jews? Have they told you of any prejudice they've felt in Ireland?

Pretty sure the people of Vanuatu probably aren't even aware of the Jewish in Belgium. Too busy eating coconuts in the Pacific I'd imagine.

Anyway. Another trolling attempt. That you Yitzhak?

Have to hand it to you, you really put the work into picking your subjects for threads. You'll be missed when you're gone.

    The USA isn't in Europe.

Ireland's Jewish population has been in decline since the 1950s. Most went to the UK and the USA were they were more welcomed.

Why did every other nation in Europe express condolences and not us?

    This thread won't end well.

This must surely be the biggest atrocity that any country in Europe has inflicted upon the Jews!

If it's not anti-semitism, any other reason why the Dept of Foreign Affairs didn't express sympathy to the murdered Jews in Belgium as is normal diplomatic protocol? Every other nation in Europe did so.

Having done a little bit of research on Jews in Ireland, it was wanting to be part of larger Jewish communities that spurred that, rather than the rabid anti-semitism you'd love it to have been.
Why did every other nation in Europe express condolences and not us?
"Us"? You mean you didn't either? For shame, seeing as you claim to care so much...

    Italy. No problem.
    Ivory Coast. No problem.

    They look to their left.
    Iran. Hate those guys.
    Iraq. Bastards.

Why does the victims being Jewish matter? Surely the people deserve sympathy no matter what religion they were.

Agreed. So why doesn't Ireland send condolences to fellow Europeans when they happen be Jewish?

Write to Enda Kenny and ask him. Write a real long letter, by hand, go over and over and over it to make sure there are no spelling mistakes. Probably best to log out of boards while you do it to give it your full attention.
