An open source app is being developed to facilitate easily publishing digital comics. A focus of the project is how to best explore narratives in a digital format, in ways beyond just transferring the pages to the screen. Alan Moore is the project leader, and Garth Ennis is also involved, among others. Ocasta Studios are developing the app. A 32 page showcase will be produced featuring original titles.

Looks interesting. I know self-publishing is something Alan Moore encourages, so it's not surprising that he is looking to facilitate people doing that. I'm curious about what ideas they might have for exploring a comic on a computer beyond the .cbr type approach.

The project lasts a year. They are researching what features to put in the app at the moment. They already have prepared the comic they want to use to demonstrate it.
Hopefully in about a year’s time we will have a fantastic app ready to download and create comics with, and a 32 page comic to read on it.
