If there was nobody influencing you? Nobody saying "this is a good opportunity for you!"

    Something, only you wanted.

What job would you have done? I'd have become a freelance writer.

Have to get a qualification that would be able to support a family first, before all the risks.

Yes, because that's what Joyce, Hemingway et. al did

    Hemingway was an alcoholic.

    Your point?

I'm too drunk for this ****. :pac:

    Yes, one point to me.

My actual point is, if you keep coming up with excuses to not fulfil your ambition, then you will remain frustrated and your freelance writing career will be confined to here.
Lock yourself in a room with a couple of cartons of whiskey, come out with your magnum opus and... win :D

    Serious answer: Professional footballer

I'd like to think I was decent, but always got told growing up to go to college and get s good job. Granted, I love my future prospects, but I would have loved to at least try

Or something that would allow me to make a sht load of money quick without a lot of training

Hmmm, not sure. If you were good enough, why were you not picked up by talent scouts?

And, professional footballer without a lot of training? Does not compute.

I was scouted for Connaught actually, and that's as far as i got. I was around people that got into the Ireland squad at the time, but just couldn't break into it, at that time. I was about 14/15 iirc.

As i said, my main focus was getting to college and getting a good job because thats what my parents wanted. So all my effort went into making sure that i got the grades i needed.

And i said i was "decent" not "the next messi"

I was on the fringes of that scene for a while, back when you needed transmitters and stuff. Now you can just broadcast online...

And again, there are lots of properties in Italy, and here in the south of France, which are fallow. You need to ask yourself why?

Money! it always comes down to money but maybe someday the vineyard dream could become reality
the food critic on the other hand is probably a stretch too far into fantasy

Start writing on the side. Seriously, it's never been so easy to get published (as in, stuff on the internet - blogs and such... not books!)
