    Hi all,

Planning a bit of a trip away with the O/H, only for 2 nights/3 days.

He's keen to go to Bucharest while I just want to stick to Nice or Bordeaux.

Bucharest just doesn't seem to attract me for some reason, I haven't seen many pictures and i've never heard anything about it, I just think it's one of those places for me. Has anyone been and would recommend?

I don't want to regret going if I decide to go, and wishing I was in France eating croissants :o

Cheers in advance for any help!

Bucharest has a lovely old town and lots of sites to see & a very modern subway which is easy to use. There are two kinds of taxis though - one for tourists and one for locals. They both have the price written on the side but the 'tourist' one has a price which is about four times the normal. Try and book a taxi/shuttle in advance if you go.

Bordeaux is a lovely city - not sure if you'd get three days out of it though.

Have never been to Nice - heard it's lovely but very pricey.

    Never been to Bucharest.

Bordeaux is really nice. Three days would be relaxing. It's not coastal, if that's an issue for you. You'd get to know the place a little and also take a bus out to some of the wine regions. St. Émilion would be worth the trip. If you'd like to do a wine tasting, I'd recommend the 'Maison du Vin', which is the viticulture's organisation in the region. The course is great value and the wines good quality.

Nice is ... nice, too. Advantage being it's Mediterranean, and on the Cote d'Azur.

Both places have excellent food at different price levels. Monoprix is the better of the supermarkets with good wine, cheese and charcuterie sections.
