    Hi,

Just wondering does anyone know if it's possible to un-register for voting or what's the process to go about doing it? Has anyone done it before or tried to??

Thanks, I didn't realise it was that simple, Google wasn't showing up any solutions.

I sense I'm opening a can of worms here but why would you want to?

Quite simply, the less control the government have over me the better! it's come to a stage now where everyone should be doing the same!

If people started researching and understanding statutes, acts, taxes, laws etc Ireland would be a different country. For example income tax is not mandatory it's only voluntary, yet we are lead to believe we must pay it! Similarly there is no known definition for "income" No one in Revenue can define it, they have been asked and they don't want to answer! So why pay income tax on something that Revenue cannot define!

Another example is rates paid to councils. Rates were brought in under the Queen Victoria Poor Act. The money collected was to specifically go to the poor houses to feed and clothe the poor of the towns and for no other reason! All rates now go into the pockets of the council. This again has been challenged and no one can prove or will say that rates paid these days go directly to the poor of the town.

Now I'm no expert, I'm only in the early stages of learning! But it's really interesting and I'd recommend that people start looking into the various topics as well.

Now where did you learn all of that rubbish?

    Oh, I see, enough said.

No actually, it was not Google. I have spoken to a lot of knowledgeable people who have spent countless hours researching these topics.

    Now I'm no expert

I'm pretty sure this is the only fact you've stated.

If you live in my country, you have a social duty to contribute to it's running.

I'd have no problem doing that, if it was being run in the correct manner and the government weren't destroying the people of Ireland.

Well then ... Instead of trying to hide from the Government, why not do your bit to get more of the disenfranchise out to vote?

Do something positive rather than something negative and non constructive.

Quite simple, if voting made a difference, they wouldn't let us do it.

I think if you started looking into the matters I mentioned, then perhaps your opinion may change and if not, fair enough everyone is free to have their own opinions.

And in no way is this non constructive, it's of benefit, even if you cannot see it or want to believe it.

I can see how people might never want to vote again after what has been going on with the last few governments but for me, to take my name off the list is a little too far. You might want to vote in a referendum. It could be abortion, neutrality, legalise drugs etc.
Having said that I guess you could try get your name back on in time if you knew that a referendum was coming up.

Section 15 of the 1946 Act

"15.—(1) An urban authority shall establish and maintain a fund to be known as the municipal fund."

Section 18 of the 1946 Act

"18.—(1) An urban authority shall from time to time make, assess and levy equally over their urban area, in accordance with this Part of this Act, such rate (to be known as the municipal rate) as may be necessary for the purpose of supplying any deficiency (whether actual or prospective) in the municipal fund."

So a local authority must establish a municipal fund to pay for its activities. This fund replaced the previous funds. And a local authority make levy rates to supply any deficiency in the fund.

After a brief search of the Direct taxes acts the word income is mentioned 2,540 times. It is defined over and over again depending on the relevance to the section in question ie trading income, rental income and so on.
The tax rates and the amounts you have to pay are also clearly defined as are your obligations to file a return (where relevant). Income tax is not voluntary.

I am guessing you have been reading Freeman propaganda. Be careful with that as it is a very dangerous path. They can be convincing in what they say but anyone who does a bit of research into what they say will quickly find they are a sham. That is why you never see educated people being Freemen. They are a bunch of conspiracy theory nuts with no grounding in reality. They are more like a cult than a real movement.
You will end up shouting at a Garda one day to see if he is on his oath*

*the oath being covered by a statute ironically enough.
