Any ACCA working in New Zealand?

    Hi guys,

    Something which has crossed my mind lately is the possibility of leaving our fair shores for pastures new. NZ is a niggling thought at the back of my mind.
    Just wondering if anyone has any experience of moving over in an accounting capacity. I'm ACCA qualified, nearly five years experience.

    I moved over just for the year on a working holiday visa, I'm ACA and it was my first job out of practice but I had no real trouble getting something - the only obstacle was the short term visa rather than a lack of roles out there. Fantastic country to live in too, especially if you're the outdoors type!

    Cheers for the info. Its great to hear first hand info. As I said, its something that is on my mind.
    I tried to do a little research on it but it is very confusing. Accountancy seems to be on the skills shortage list, but when you look at the requirements it implies you may have to sit some exams again, i.e tax! Its been five years since I did an exam and I am in no hurry to do so again!

    A good source of information on this kind of think is the UBS Prices and Earnings report. The link is to the 2012 edition, there should be an update this year...

    Using NY as the base, here are a couple of the figures in there:

    |Dublin|Auckland|Sydney
    Wage levels|78.8|63.5|98
    Domestic Purchasing Power|82|74.8|104
    Time to buy IPhone (Hrs)|39|51|32.5


    So it would seem that it is not the place to go if you want to accumulate a whole heap of savings, but at the same time you should be able to live comfortably enough there as compare to Dublin.

    There is a heap more information in that report so it is well worth spending some time on it.

    Just wondering has anyone tried to line up a job in the likes of NZ, Canada and so on before going there?
