I found a number of recipes from very simple lime and water to some strange cocktails.
What has been used traditionally in Ireland?
What ratios of ingredients should I use?

    Hi

I have been at this all day so glad i can help!

    So you first need a

1 X bag of hydrated lime (white rhino)

    4 X 25L buckets

    1 X Drill mixer bit

    1 X lime wash brush

Also you need PPE such as overalls and gloves - limes can burn skin so be careful

one 25 kg bag will make the four buckets

just mix a little over 6kg of lime to the 25 liters of water and let stand over night

this is a light mix - the idea is to give a few coats of limewash rather then one thick coat as if ya make it to thick it cracks and looks rough after a a month or two.

also if doing it in very hot weather try to avoid the walls with direct sunlight again it will dry to quick

when you put it on it wont look white until it drys so dont panic if it looks see through!

hope this helps - what are you limewashing?

when using it just keep the drill mixer handy and keep mixing it each time you go for a fill

Thanks for guide. The mix is as I thought but I wouldn't have known the ratios or to leave it overnight.
I have a small dark yard with two rough cast concrete walls so I thought I'd see how it looks. I use lime at work as a weed killer.
