    Ok Im irish but i lived in italy for 3 years and speak italian to a high enough standard and was wondering is there recognised online courses i could take to get a qualification standard,or is there somewhere in dublin or ireland that i can sit an exam?

    You should look for the CILS exam (Certificato di Italiano come Lingua Straniera). I'd say they have some courses at UCC Cork, perhaps they host some classes too in Dublin. I know nothing about online courses for this.
