Eyestrain

d really appreciate any thoughts and ideas that I could pass on. don't want people to tell me what to do but would appreciate any ideas that I can pass on to my opthalmologist. He's running out of ideas. If I should ask for a referral what profession should that be to?

The problem I have is eyestrain. If I cover either eye it's fine but I can't use both eyes and not get eyestrain and headaches. We've tried tweaking my prescription by adjusting up and down the strength and reducing the astigmatism. We also tried reducing the strength of my prescription in my weaker eye by a full diopter with a view to just using my right eye but that just made the headaches worse. I have no issues without glasses.

I've worn glasses for about 20 years without difficulty. My prescription has changed slightly over the past couple of years with a reduction in strength required and an increase in astigmatism.

The problems began nearly a year ago when I got a new pair of sunglasses after my previous pair were stolen. I chose a pair of Oakleys which required an adjustment to my prescription of a quarter of a diopter in strength and a quarter in astigmatism. They caused headaches fairly quickly. We tried adjusting them a couple of times but in the end went back to what I had previously. These also caused problems. Then my normal glasses started causing trouble. The prescription was adjusted a few times to one I could live with but when it got bright again coming into spring/summer I started getting eyestrain again.

It may be worth noting that I have slightly dry eyes and slight light sensitivity since I took roaccutane 15 years ago.

I have been to another optician who said that I had a complex prescription and gave me his best shot but had the same result.

I'd really appreciate any thoughts and ideas that I could pass on.
