Cost to take out fireplace and plasterboard chimney

    Hi

I was just wondering whether anyone could give me a rough indication as to a cost on something please. Trying to budget for something.

Timberframed house and in the living room we have a "chimney breast" with a flue running up it and a gas fire.

I'm looking to remove the fireplace and get the gas fire connection capped off. Its then a decision as to whether to remove the chimney breast altogether and get the gap filled in (only about 1.5 metres wide) or leave the chimney and just have new board put in for where the fire was.

Hope this is making sense. Obviously we would need to replace the skirting as a result.

Knock-on affect would be that the flue runs up through the back bedroom and there is box running through the room of about 40cm. would it make more sense to take this out too if chimney goes. And what would the additional cost of that be.

TV then needs to be mounted on the wall downstairs.

I know this is really small and a DIY job for some. But I' just amn't that handy! :o
