Anybody know any place in the Kildare South area (Naas/Newbridge/Kildare Town) that does decent 225/40/R18 tyres at a good price?

Want to keep the cost as low as possible but I want to get good tyres too.

There is a great tyre place in Saggart if that is not too far for you. Can't remember the name of it off the top of my head but it is beside a pub on the Main Street, you can't miss it :)

Edit: Keane's is the name of it.

Make sure to compare bricks & morter prices with online + fitting prices. In that size there can be a wide difference between buying online and locally. Remember to allow about €50 extra for fitting if buying online.

BTW I'd recommend Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta in that size, had them on my last BMW and they were a great tyre. Hard enough to buy them locally though at a reasonable price.

Atlas in Baldoyle quoted me €150 for Bridgestone S001s and €160 for Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics in that size, price includes fitting and balancing of wheels.

I've had various tyres on my BMW over the last 6 years. F1s on it currently and the are a super tyre. Pricey but the best I've ever used. Michelins were an excellent 2nd followed by Bridgestone.

That sounds like a good price for the F1s in that size. If memory serves, I was quoted €180 a corner last year in Blanch.

Was a bit surprised tbh, i thought they would be more. I used to get all my tyres from Camskill but it seems the gap has closed a fair bit over the last while especially with the rates some places charge just to change a tyre and balance the wheels.

Camskill generally have the goodyears at decent prices

€115 x 2 plus €15 delivery plus €60 fit is €305. For the sake of €15 I'd rather my money stayed in Ireland.

60 euro to fit two tyres is expensive

Healy's in Naas-I got my last set of tyres there.
They were 200 quid cheaper than my local garage for them and threw in a free laser wheel alignment.

Camskill only charge €5 per tyre for delivery and tyres can be fitted from €10 per tyre. So €15 could actually be €55...

This is where i've got my last few sets of tyres, great pricing and service.

I used oponeo.ie last time. Was a bit wary of the site as I couldn't find many reviews but went for it and saved a bundle and delivery within a few days.

The last time I ordered was December 2013 and it was £10 for 2 tyres. If the price has doubled I'll be looking elsewhere...

Guys, if the OP is looking to keep costs low, I can't see him spending €130/150 a corner. Stand to be corrected though as he doesn't give a budget or car that they're going on.

Personally I got 2 branded part-worns before Christmas from Tyreland in Finglas that haven't given me any issues and were a lot cheaper than some of the ridiculous prices I was getting quoted previously. 80% of the thread left on them at the time for less than the cost of 1 new one which with Christmas coming up and car tax etc to pay was a real bonus.

I know people will no doubt jump on the part-worn thing (always happens here) but unless you change the tyres on every 2nd hand car you've ever bought or even driven there's no difference and they're certainly better than cheap Chinese rubbish (which seems to be the alternative pushed most of the time in bricks and mortor places).

Speaking of cheap Chinese rubbish, that place in Blanch that's often mentioned here sold me 2 awful tyres for my previous Passat at one point cause again it was all he had, I was stuck, and I was assured they were fine.. which they were - until it rained! Never again! Especially as they charged me the same for them as I'd pay for a "decent" tyre.

Yep. I got two new ones in there in February after my Newlands Cross incident for €142 each fitted. Keith is an absolute gent to deal with as well. Always happy to stay Irish when you get prices as service like that.

Not sure if the place still exists but there was small tire place next to the former driving test centre in Naas - they stocked both new and part worn tires and the balancing was done properly. They did 4 wheel alignments, too if needed.

The bonus was they were not very busy last year, so no appointments or waiting 3 hours to get the car back. Worth a shot if you are in Naas.
