We’re giving our market leading Fibre Powered services away for FREE. That’s right. If you ‘re lucky enough to live in Cork or Limerick we’re so confident that you’ll love our TV, Broadband and Home Phone that we’re giving it to you FREE for 6 months when you switch.

Not a bad deal at all.

Not bad, but I presume you have to take the triple bundle?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,861 ✭✭✭RobbieTheRobber

No you can get the broadband or just phone package.
It is an 18 month contract though so you will have to pay for 12 months after the 6 free are finished.
You could take the max package though for 6 months and downgrade after the free period is up to just keep the broadband or phone.

    Discrimination!
There's rarely a reason to be annoyed you live in Galway but this is one.

Should just be half price for a 1 year contract no :) ?

not quiet that good.. Its 18 months for price of 12. So 12/18 = one third off rather than half

How's this a bargain? Move to Limerick or Cork to get free UPC? Or don't.

I know which I'd go for.

Yes, you have to leave Dublin for the bargain. I've begun packing already. Thanks OP.

Big number of unhappy customers in these parts I bet. I know a load of people who have got rid of UPC in Thurles and Clonmel and it wasn't due to price or anything it was because of the poor customer service and for some people it took numerous calls/call outs to get them to fix faults. Try to find the link for this.

Very interesting. Are you sure you can get the max package for 6 months then downgrade to the 30eur broadband for the last 12 months?

    Cheers. will call them tomorrow

Be careful. I agreed a half price 1 year deal with them. They cancelled without telling me and charged me more than double for 4 months. Read the small print

Very interesting offer but I live in Carlow so it's of no use.

    What's the service like?

Easily the fastest most reliable service in the country.
Their base rates, are faster than the fastest you'll get from other companies.
They also don't cap- and route their traffic a lot better than Eircon if you're into gaming, ping rates are typically a lot lower.
They're easily the best provider in the Irish market.

It's easily the best BB I've used in the world.

    Actually that isn't quite true

    They also have 60Mb/6Mb packages
    http://www.upc.ie/bundles/broadband-phone/fibre-60/ ( €37 after 6 mths )
    http://www.upc.ie/bundles/broadband-phone/fibre-60-ltd/ ( €30 after 6 mths - 30 GB cap )

Which doesn't beat vectoring speeds that you'd only get if you had a good line and are within a good Frisbee throw of a efiibre cabinet

Then again it does include 3Mb wifi if you are near someone elses UPC modem and 400 minutes international calls which can be used with a smartphone.

Add it to the basket and check the address (any address in the area..?), it may not be offered that far out.

Is there any service provider that you would recommend.
I'm leaning towards Vodafone (Vodafone Simply Broadband package)

I downgraded a while ago and it also put me into a new contract

Think clon doesn't have fibre yet....

I wonder if it's possible to cancel the current contract in the house as the family member's name on it isn't living here any more and sign up as a new customer for the deal. I technically would be a new customer!

It's telling me that availability will be confirmed 72 hours after I ordered what's that all about? Is it available or not? I am checking a city centre address in Cork

'Availability will be confirmed within 72 hours after placing your order.'

Also watch out for the sneeky charge if you don't register for My UPC

'Price per month displayed includes a monthly €3.50 Self-serve Discount. Register for My UPC to receive this discount every month.'

It's not sneaky at all? The price displayed has this included and they even tell you that you can get it off by opening a myupc account.

It would be sneaky if the price displayed DIDN'T include it.

    Sneaky probably the wrong word

Watch out for the additional charges if you don't sign up to my upc
