Windows vista password not working

    hi

    a friends laptop seems to be on the blink..

    she turned on the laptop and the password wont work.

    funny thing is,, when we tye in the actual password it displays

    "The User Profile Service service failed the logon.
    User profile cannot be loaded."

    when i type in a random password it displays

    "The user name and password is incorrect"

    ive started in safe mode and done a sytem restore and it still wont work..

    what can i do
