Having trouble getting info from passport office as they don't answer phones.
I am looking to get a passport for my child and my husband recently deceased. I never changed my surname on my marriage cert but I would like myself and my child now to have the same surname on our passports and everything going forward. Can I apply for a new passport for each of us, using my marriage cert (name not changed on it but proves we were married) . My existing passport will not expire for a few years

on the website I can see you need proof of using your name for 2 years but I have not being doing this. I am only starting to use my married name now.

I'm open to correction on this but I think you can change it at anytime with a marriage cert.

I changed my passport using my marriage cert without any problem and without any 2 year proof requirement.
