I've been reading lately about hybrid conversions and wonder what are people's thougts? Seems easy for a competent mechanic to do. Anyone know if it would effect NCT? Also, if it would effect insurance or something?

Thinking of buying a classic golf or honda and converting it to petrol & plug in hybrid.

Great idea, except for 3 problems.

-Did you see the size of the battery pack/ controller? Even in a big estate car, you have zero boot space.
    - The wight of the kit would really kill most gains.
-I dont see any rear brakes! - I would have thought a car like that honda would have discs, but if it had drums it would explain it.

$3000??? - Just LPG it (if its petrol).

To be fair he does say that the one in the video's a test vehicle and the final control unit will be much smaller.

Quality video too. I assumed the whole thing was from 1997 when I started watching.
