Hi! Just a bit of advice guys, working as a chef for 15years, never thought to change career until now, I'm in my early 30s and currently working the average chef life, hotel hours, little social life, as I've only worked in the hotel and bar industry I don't have a clue where to start, was wondering if anyone knows how to go about applying for catering jobs in the schooling or care sector, what's the rate of pay like? I'm quite an enthusiastic person and always willing to learn new things in different surroundings, any advice on this career move would be greatly appreciated,
    D.

You should look up the likes of Campbell’s, Sodexo, Compass etc….. these are the main players in providing canteen services in factories etc…

keep an eye out who has the catering contracts for local schools etc

    hotels are 24/7.

Did you look into restaurants, gastro pubs or restaurant mgt?

The rate of pay with those catering companies will be considerably lower than what you're going on at the moment but the good working hours will more than make up for that.

Train to be a chef trainer, Google train the trainer courses. Even if you don't get a gig straight away, you'll have it for the future. The hourly rate can be fairly good.
