    Any advice would be great.....

My Mk5 Gti Golf is sitting about 500 revs on the rev clock, is this normal?

After driving the car for 20-30 minutes it sometimes (8/10 times) splutters/hiccups lightly but the needle of the rev counter doesn't move. You mainly notice it when your feet are in contact with the pedals but sometimes it is noticeably load. I think their was a Faulty Mass Airflow Sensor as their was an error EVAP Emission Control system incorrect (PO441). Any suggestions?

A mechanic has said to me that the head may need to be skimmed? Could this be a misdiagnosis?

try clean the maf (youtube it its easy) next could maybe the coilpack/ht leads/spark plugs or the trottle body in order of cost low to high! i would normally expect a car like that to idle just under a 1000 but could be as low as 500 on some cars
