Windows 0.8 - extremely good - prepare to replace in 15 years time perhaps? Is it worth the cost.

What's the wall beside it? new build old regs 0.22 - 3 times better insulated? New regs 0.18.

Dont go overboard on one element without looking at rest of measures - esp ones that dont last - think of payback.

Not looking to go overboard as such, just looking to build to my provisional BER spec which has the windows at 0.8.

Gradyjoinery (assume it's ok mention these as they are a big company?) windows is what was specified but just looking to see what other options I have.

This is a point often missed. Lifting the performance of one element alone is a bit fruitless.

Better to match elements better now. The same of airtightness vs insulation. No point in having great u-values and rubbish airtightness.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

The are some names listed in the prices/cost forum which can give you a start, can't post a link but I got some names from a thread in 2009 started by ninjabob if you want to search. Some of the companies are still around some not but will give you a start.

I Found there was a lot of differences in prices and some companies could do the windows / doors I wanted and some not. It is worth getting a good few quotes, also the u-value isn't everything - quality, installation, aesthetics etc are important when comparing.
