    Hey

I was browsing around trying to find something cheap to use for internet (not one bit interested in a tablet) and a chromebook seems to be what I need, to be honest I only need it for steam trading (this is not possible on a tablet) and browsing the web or streaming.. Also just to clarify if I have music or that on an external drive can I still play that music even if the chromebook is offline?

I looked on currys website and amazingly saw one for 160euro.. I was thinking, bargain then 5mins later I come back and see it has disappeared.. Looking to spend maybe no more than 180 if possible as I will prob get laptop repaired before end of summer..

Think the one I saw on currys was samsung series 3 but cant remember exactly.. All help will be appreciated..

    Thanks,
    John

    Hello John,

You can do things while the Chromebook is offline as well, yes.
Alternatively, there are guides online to install Ubuntu on a Chromebook, which is a full blown OS.

As to where to get it cheaply, I'm sorry, but I can't help.

    Regards,

    Claudiu

yesterday both amazon and ibood had them on offer.
Amazon do a range of them so worth a look.
Mine is a Samsung one and I just use it for google docs and internet.
If you need to do much more there is a limited terminal which you can use.

I assume google docs is googles equivelant to word.. I only need it for the summer and maybe until around november so would be handy enough for basic use I find.. Cant believe I missed theone on ibood I usually always check those offers.. Ohh well wont be until 2 weeks before I can get anyways..

Edit: rang currys they said the cheapest is the acer c720 for 179.. But I am unsure if he meant pounds or euros :/

    I think that's sterling. It's €249 in PC World/Currys (same place)

Argos is slightly cheaper at €230, plus you get a €10 gift card

I've been looking around for one myself and to be honest, even for short term use I'd spend an extra €70 or so and get the new 13.3inch Toshiba Chromebook which has gotten great reviews

Almost the cheapest I've been able to find is €299, online or brick & mortar (amazon.co.uk are only very slightly cheaper at £230 (€280+)
